今回はThe Chainsmokers(チェインスモーカーズ)のSomebodyを訳しました。
Somebodyとは？
2018年リリース曲の４曲目となったこちらの曲。
Drew Love(ドリュー・ラブ)というアメリカ出身のR&Bの音楽を歌うアーティストとコラボしています。
曲自体は同年にリリースされた2曲と同じように少し暗めで切なさを感じる音楽なのですが、Drew Loveの高音で美しい歌声を引き立たせています。
Youtubeの公式MVの再生回数は約380万回(24/04/2018時点)。
どんな歌？
直訳すると”誰か”という意味になります。
一年前にリリースされた”Something just like this”とは少し違った何かを求める歌になっています。

最後に
和訳してみると歌詞上に登場する人は富と名声を手に入れた権力者のように見えます。
きっと全てを手に入れた結果自分がなんのかが、わからなくなります。
そんな中でも”I know I should forget her”という歌詞があることから彼女と別れたことで、周りの人と同じにはなりたくないけど今の自分でいたくない。という感情を表しているのかもしれません。
